Notre Dame 32, Toldeo 29

For the second straight week, Notre Dame managed a late score to get past an upstart opponent, this time the Rockets in Notre Dame Stadium.

Jack Coan hit Michael Mayer on an 18-yard touchdown pass with just over a minute to go in the game to give Notre Dame the lead back for good. The Irish had fallen behind 29-24 with 1:35 to go when Dequan Finn ran 26 yards for a score to put Toledo up.

Coan, playing with a dislocated finger on the final drive, threw for 239 yards and two scores for the Irish, which move to 2-0 on the season after beating Florida State by a field in overtime in week one.

Purdue 49, UConn 0

Jack Plummer threw for 245 yards and four touchdowns as Purdue rolled to a run in Hartford.

The Boilers, playing UConn for the first time ever, led just 7-0 in the first quarter but scored 28 points in the second quarter, three of those touchdowns from Plummer to David Bell on completions of 30, 59 and 8 yards.

The Purdue defense pitched its first shutout since the 2011 season, and prepares for a showdown in South Bend against Notre Dame next week.

Indiana 56, Idaho 14

After a tough first week, Indiana bounced back with a blowout of the Vandals in Bloomington.

Indiana had three touchdown passes from the quarterback duo of Jack Tuttle and Michael Penix Jr., and had Stephen Carr rush for 118 yards and a score. The Hoosier defense pinned Idaho to just 65 yards rushing in the contest and allowed just three third-down conversions in the game.

Penn St. 44, Ball St. 13

The Nittany Lions accumulated nearly 500 yards of offense in blowing out the Cardinals in Happy Valley.

Penn State rushed for 240 yards and quarterback Sean Clifford threw for 230 more as the hosts to a 24-6 lead into the half.

The Nittany Lion defense held Ball State to just 69 yards rushing on 26 attempts in the contest.

Iowa 27, Iowa St. 17

The Hawkeyes knocked off its second straight ranked opponent, taking out No. 9 Iowa State in Ames.

Warsaw grad Andrew Mevis made an extra point, but missed a 45-yard field goal in the final minute of the game, allowing Iowa to run out the clock for the win.

The Hawkeyes had its third defensive touchdown of the season on a fumble return by Jack Campbell, and used Charlie Jones and Tyler Goodson touchdowns to pick up the rivalry win.

Kentucky 35, Missouri 28

The Wildcats used a 14-point first quarter to pace its win in Lexington.

Chris Rodriguez rushed for 206 yards and three scores for Kentucky while Mizzou quarterback Connor Bazelak threw for four touchdowns.

Warsaw grad Harrison Mevis, who nailed a 55-yard field goal a week ago, was just 4-4 on extra point tries for the Tigers.
